Our team of college planning advisors and assistants offer one-on-one appointments and workshops regarding admissions, financial aid, and scholarships. Our mission is to expand access to higher education opportunities for underserved populations in the Phoenix community by offering free, comprehensive college planning services. The College Depot AmeriCorps positions will perform service related to assisting prospective college students and their families prepare for a post-secondary education, providing assistance in completing the FAFSA, college/career planning, admissions applications, scholarships, and other related steps. Participate in Phoenix Families First reading sessions/story times for reading intervention services. Provide tutoring related to reading fluency and accuracy in one-on-one and small group environments for children and adults behind in grade level reading

Member Duties : Assist students with college planning information, tools, and referrals. Participate in Phoenix Families First reading sessions for reading intervention services. Provide tutoring related to reading fluency and accuracy in one-on-one and small group environments for children and adults behind in grade level reading. Provide individualized and group assistance with their college/career plans, college searches, admissions applications, and scholarships searches/applications. Conduct hands-on labs and other activities and events dealing with college preparation topics. Represent College Depot/Youth and Education Office/Phoenix Families First Resource Centers at community events. Answer frequent telephone calls and walk-ins. Assist in preparing for workshops and events by setting up the room, computers, preparing copies, distributing surveys, etc.
