'24-25 Workforce Development Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
SUU’s Community and Workforce Development dept aims to help communities thrive by connecting adult learners to campus resources, regional training and employment. We provide accessible, short-term learning programs for entering high-skill and targeted industries, staying competitive in the workplace and developing as leaders. Our efforts support key regional industries including healthcare, computer tech/cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, aviation, parks and rec leadership, and tourism/hospitality management. This position will develop an education pathways program in valuable skills training, certificate education, and employment opportunities. *Work with regional economic developers and industry partners to develop a process for gathering regional data to inform on the need, development, and promotion of workforce training opportunities. *Engage local support agencies/organizations in promoting workforce education and training opportunities throughout the region. *Communicate education pathways, opportunities, and resources to guide underserved populations toward valuable skills training and employment. *Gather and report data to inform training program development and sustainability. Member Duties : * Travel throughout the region to promote workforce development certificates and training opportunities to meet industry needs * Assist planning, developing and hosting Governor’s One Utah Summit regarding regional workforce development * Collaborate with curriculum committees to ensure training programs comply with standards and are of high quality. * Coordinate training committees for effective program development. * Collect and share data on workforce needs and training progress. * Develop an automated and sustainable system for generating and reporting data effectively. * Support program participants * Explore funding and resource opportunities (grants, services, etc.) to assist adult and working learners in upskilling programs. LOOKING FOR: - Professional writing and marketing/communication skills - Represent university workforce development training programs in the community. - Understanding of local government and economic development operations
