MNA 2017 - Battle Creek College Access Network

As a VISTA with the Battle Creek College Access Network, you’ll oversee programs that make enrolling and persisting in college a little easier for Battle Creek youth. The VISTA will also develop and implement a career pathways system into the community. You’ll work with BC CAN staff to expand marketing through social media and other under-utilized platforms. Battle Creek Public Schools had an 88% graduation rate in 2014-15. Only 46% of those graduating enrolled in college, and over half of them went to a community college, and persistence rates drop 50% each year, meaning fewer and fewer kids are getting into, and staying in, college. The VISTA is vital to bringing scholarship opportunities to the attention of high schoolers, as well as providing them with other college preparation materials. Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) is a statewide nonprofit organization that serves its nonprofit members to advance their missions. MNA's vision is that Michigan's nonprofit sector be a vital leader in building and sustaining thriving communities, and MNA believes that active, engaged volunteers are imperative.
