Harrison Neighborhood Association (HNA) Tenant Organizer
 
 
 
The Harrison Neighborhood Association (HNA), established in 1984 by neighbors seeking to build community together, is a powerful place-based organization located in North Minneapolis. HNA represents a diverse membership of over 3,200 residents, the majority of whom are BIPOC and renters. With a large community board and 2 full-time staff, HNA works to create a prosperous and peaceful community that equitably benefits all of Harrison neighborhood’s diverse racial, cultural, and economic groups. The VISTA Tenant Organizer will contribute to the elimination of poverty in the Harrison neighborhood by creating housing stability through tenant organizing. The VISTA Tenant Organizer will work with HNA to expand the capacity of Harrison tenants currently engaged in tenant union organizing efforts at their apartment complex and will assist HNA in developing a Tenant Union Organizing Program to be utilized as a resource for all Harrison tenants.

Member Duties : HNA is seeking a Tenant Organizer to help us build tenant organizing power in the Harrison neighborhood. The Tenant Organizer will work with Harrison community members and HNA staff to develop tenant leadership and organizing capacity and assist with the creation of a new tenant union organizing program, including: researching and analyzing the efficacy of existing tenant organizing programs, synthesizing tenant organizing tools and resources, developing HNA’s new program structure, creating training curriculum, writing program communications content. HNA is looking for a candidate who has experience mobilizing people around community interests, is an innovative thinker, adapts well to changing priorities, and understands the difference between power-building and charity work. Background experience developing programs and/or campaigns is preferred but not required.
