Collaborative Adventure WV VISTA
 
 
 
THE MEMBER WILL WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH ADVENTURE WV (AWV) AND CENTER FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT (CCE) TO BUILD CAPACITY AND ENHANCE ENVIRONMENTAL BASED SERVICE PROJECTS FOR THE WVU COMMUNITY. ADDITIONALLY, THE MEMBER WILL WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH THE ADVENTURE WV FIRST-YEAR TRIPS TEAM TO SUPPORT VARIOUS ASPECTS OF THE FIRST-YEAR TRIPS, WHICH RESEARCH SHOWS HAS INCREASED RETENTION AND GRADUATION RATES AMONG WVU STUDENTS. WHEN WORKING WITH THE FIRST-YEAR TRIPS PROGRAM, THE VISTA WILL HAVE A SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON RECRUITMENT OF HISTORICALLY UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS AND DESIGNING PROGRAMS AND CURRICULA THAT MEET THE NEEDS OF THESE POPULATIONS. FINALLY, THE VISTA WILL WORK WITH AWV PROFESSIONAL STAFF TO UTILIZE THE OUTWARD-FACING NEEDS ASSESSMENT AND INTAKE PROCESSES FOR WVU AND COMMUNITY GROUPS REQUESTING CUSTOM PROGRAMMING WITH A FOCUS ON RETENTION, THEREBY INCREASING AWV’S ABILITY TO PARTNER EFFECTIVELY AND ENGAGE WVU POPULATIONS IN STUDENT-SUCCESS PROGRAMMING. INCREASED CAPACITY FOR YEAR-ROUND ADVENTURE/SERVICE OGRAMMING WILL INCREASE BOTH RETENTION AND GRADUATION RATES FOR AT-RISK, LOW-INCOME, FIRST GENERATION, & STEM STUDENTS.

Member Duties : The member will generate or update program plans for annual service events, work to enroll volunteers and create a post-program report. The member will help to monitor First-Year Trips participant enrollment using the Adventure WV database and will attending recruiting events. The member will attend and teach portions of leadership trainings for student staff members.
