AmeriCorps VIP Fellow: United Way Monterey County

Over the course of an 11 month/1700-hour term, each Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP) Fellow will recruit, train, and retain 50 volunteers; build business partnerships for financial and volunteer support; and build capacity within the placement site's volunteer program to provide the support, skills and resources volunteers need to be successful. VIP Fellows will increase the number of high-value (skilled and corporate) volunteers (HVV) providing needed services to children and families in high need communities. Expected impact across California: [1] Infrastructure will be built in organizations by recruiting, screening, and training 2,500 HVV and 2,500 one-time volunteers (50 total volunteers per AmeriCorps member) [2] Business partnerships will be established and maintained to provide funding, in-kind donations, and corporate volunteers to Placement Sites. As a VIP Fellow, you will be part of a team, working to coach and support a cadre of HVV. Your primary role is developing the volunteer program at your site, bringing resources of highly-skilled volunteers to children and families in need. You will spend time in the community building partnerships and forging lasting relationships. This AmeriCorps position is a valuable opportunity to develop and apply your leadership and community organizing skills to make a lasting difference in the local community. Fellows will gain exposure to the nonprofit sector and will be able to expand their career skills while giving back in a meaningful way. United Way of Monterey County (UWMC) is looking to recruit one VIP Fellow for the 2015-16 program year. The Mission of UWMC is to engage the community and focus resources to improve lives in Monterey County. UWMC is seeking an AmeriCorps VIP Fellow that will provide program support for the following: The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA), Volunteer Center database capacity building, and corporate volunteer engagement.
