The Youth Job Center of Evanston

Since 1983 the Youth Job Center of Evanston, YJC, has provided services to more than 20,000 young people in Evanston and Chicago. We prepare youth ages 14-25 for success in the workplace. We provide job placement, training and support in partnership with employers. The YJC provides job placement services to approximately 1400 youth annually, has a satellite office at Evanston Township High School and provides a plethora of programs and services to youth in Chicago, Evanston and surrounding communities. All YJC services are free of charge.

Member Duties : Assist with recruitment of youth for YJC employment programs; Verify client eligibility and enter data; Administer work readiness and other skills assessments Update and revise YJC standard operating procedures manuals Conduct workshops and trainings with YJC staff and volunteers Provide retention follow-up support by conducting weekly and monthly follow-up calls to clients and employers; Assist YJC clients with financial aid, public assistance, housing and childcare assistance forms; Update the YJC resources directory Assist program staff with major community job fairs Clerical and other duties, as needed DATA MANAGEMENT DUTIES (25%) Generate reports weekly, monthly, etc. for staff Create a YJC agency process flow chart to demonstrate movement throughout multiple programs Conduct a comparative analysis of youth employment agencies for the area Other duties as assigned
